The Huawei Honor 8 is now officially available in Pakistan. Huawei’s Honor series is known for its affordability, this phone however falls short of that.
The all glass Honor 8 is by no means a mid range phone. It has similar specifications as the Huawei P9 with a different price tag.
Display and hardware
On the outside the Honor 8 features a 5.2″1080p (1920 x 1080) display. There’s a fingerprint sensor on the back which doubles as a button with upto 3 different shortcuts. You can either click it once, twice or hold for different functions. The capacitive buttons on the front can be switched around, the back button option for example can be either assigned to the left button, the right button or the middle button if you want.
It contains Huawei’s Kirin 950 octa core chip and 2 variants with 32GB and 64GB storage. Both of the models come with 4GB of RAM and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s custom Emotion UI on top. This phone is dual SIM by default with a hybrid SIM/microSD card slot in addition to the default slot.
Camera
On the camera side of things this phone carried over the Leica setup found on the Huawei P9. You have a dual lens camera setup, developed together by Leica and Huawei, with one being a regular lens and the other only capturing in monochrome (black and white). This allows for detailed shots because the monochrome lens captures more light than a regular lens. The only downside about the camera is that it can record videos at upto 1080p (1920 x 1080) with no 4K (3840 x 2160) video recording option available.
Battery and Price
The battery capacity stands at 3,000 mAh with Huawei’s Smart Power 4.0 fast charging tech. It can charge your phone upto 47% in 30 minutes. A reversible USB-type C port is used in this phone which is becoming the norm these days.
The 32GB model is priced at Rs. 48,499 in Pakistan which is Rs. 8,499 above the international price ($399). You will also get unlimited 3G data courtesy of Mobilink Jazz on the purchase of this phone.
